  3. Prices are set AFTER kids are born and evaluated.
  4. Other factors considered in pricing (dam's record):
    1. Milk Star
    2. 1,000 lb+ milker
    3. LA Screen (FS greater than the current median score of 84.73)
    4. LA 90+
    5. E mammary
    6. Superior Genetics designation
    7. Elite designation
    8. Championship leg
    9. Finished Champion
    10. Finished in Top Ten in class at Nationals

  4. After 48 hours the kid will be offered to the next person in line.

  4. BALANCES DUE: Goats will not be released from the farm until all amounts due are paid in full.
OTHER FEES
  1. CANCELLATION: Should the buyer cancel a purchase a $100 non-refundable fee will be applied.
  2. BOARDING: Boarding fees apply should an animal not be picked up within 30 days
    1. Regular board: $5.00 per day
    2. Kidding pens: $20 per day
    3. Lactating does: $20 per day
    4. Bottle kids: $10 per day
  3. ULTRASOUNDS: $30 each
BEFORE PICK UP:
  1. DISBUDDING AND VACCINATIONS: Kids are sold with their CDT shots (first and booster) and disbudded (dehorned), unless they are polled. No exceptions.
  2. TATTOOS: Kids destined for breeding homes will be tattooed when they are disbudded and given their shots.
  3. NAMING: Owlhaven reserves the right to name any and all registered kids. Buyers may submit three choices for my consideration. However, there are no guarantees that I will select a buyer-chosen name.
  4. FARM VISITS: Farm visits are no longer available as they are not covered by my insurance.
PICKING UP AND CARING FOR YOUR KID(S):
  1. WETHERS (neutered males/pet goats):
    • I no longer provide banding services due to the risks involved (urinary calculi, tetanus).
    • Please contact your veterinarian within 4-6 months to have your pet neutered.
    • I use Creekside Veterinary Services (Escondido) and Temecula Creek Equine.
  2. TRANSPORTING YOUR KIDS: Kids should be transported within a vehicle to avoid shocking them.
  3. I will not allow kids to be transported in open pickup beds.
  4. HOUSING: Nigerian kids are delicate and require warm, clean, dry shelter with good ventilation. Mine live in pens in either a "garage" or my kidding barn. Within the barn they have small doghouses to go into for additional warmth and shelter. Would you put a young puppy out in the weather? Probably not. Use the same caution when caring for your kids.
GUARANTEES:
  1. Goats are guaranteed to be CAE, CL, Q-Fever, and Johnes free at the time of sale.
  2. Goats are also guaranteed to be free of genetic diseases. Should a genetic disorder be identified by the age of two years old, and documented by a licensed veterinarian, an appropriate replacement animal will be provided.
  3. BUYERS have the right to have the animal(s) examined by a veterinarian prior to leaving Owlhaven. A full reimbursement for testing and refund of the deposit will be provided if the veterinarian certifies in writing that the goat has a disqualifying illness (e.g., CAE). Should the illness/injury be repairable, Owlhaven will reimburse the testing expense and hold the animal until it is fully recovered. In such cases, no boarding fees will be charged.
  4. If BUYER waives this right of a pre-purchase veterinary exam, no refund will be offered if the goat becomes ill or dies after the BUYER receives possession of the purchased goat.
  5. Doe fertility is not guaranteed, and refunds are not given, except in the case of veterinarian-documented hermaphroditism. Keep in mind that some does require extra time to become mature enough to breed, and may not settle until they are two years old.
  6. Buck fertility is guaranteed.
    1. At one year of age, bucks should be able to settle a doe.
    2. The buyer MUST notify Owlhaven within 60 days of first being used to breed does.
    3. A veterinarian MUST certify in writing that your buck is sterile.
    4. The buyer is expected to provide reasonable care and feed.
    5. If the animal has been neglected, we guarantee nothing.
    6. OWLHAVEN has the option of making a satisfactory exchange or refunding the money.
    7. In no case shall OWLHAVEN be responsible for more than the selling price.
    8. Animals that are exchanged are done so at the purchaser's expense. This includes transportation.
    9. OWLHAVEN requires the original registration papers returned in an animal exchange.
    10. OWLHAVEN does not guarantee any animal that is sold without registration papers.
  7. A doe sold as “bred” is not guaranteed to be pregnant, but only to have been exposed to a buck. Depending on management, does (like people) can miscarry (see #5, below).
  8. Owlhaven Farm does not guarantee future performance of purchased goats, as the farm has no control over the conditions under which the goats are maintained by the purchaser.
CONDITIONS OF SALE:
  1. Sales are at OWLHAVEN'S discretion and will only be made to good homes, criteria include: (1) Appropriate and adequate food and water, (2) Safe and adequate shelter from sun and rain, (3) Safe and secure fencing, protection from escape and predators (dogs eat goats), (4) Companionship – goats need other goats!
  2. I reserve the right to cancel a sale if any of the above are not met -- this includes situations where pickup is delayed due to lack of preparation on the buyer's part.
  3. OWLHAVEN CANCELLATION: Owlhaven has the right to cancel a sale for any reason. Should the sale be cancelled, payments will be refunded.
  4. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No further guarantees are expressed or implied. Owlhaven has no control over the care provided to goats after they leave the farm and therefore is not responsible for their health and well-being after they leave the farm.
  5. CAVEAT EMPTOR: Buyers are responsible for their purchasing decisions.
    1. Buyers may request a pre-purchase veterinary exam (see #19) at their own expense.
    2. ALL buyers will be required to sign a health waiver form prior to taking possession of their goat.
  6. FIRST RIGHT OF REFUSAL: Owlhaven requests first right of refusal should you decide to sell your Owlhaven-bred goat. Disease testing is required, reasonable expenses will be paid by Owlhaven.
  7. CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Buyers of Owlhaven-bred goats are provided with ongoing customer support. This support takes two forms: (1) Client pages on my website and (2) personalized service. Before requesting personalized service, please review my website to see if the answer is there.
